What is lymphatic drainage?
Every week the garbage truck comes to collect the trash in your neighborhood to help keep your house and neighborhood clean. If they were to not take the waste, what would happen? The trash would gradually build up over time and would lead to other issues occurring. The same goes for your body. Did you know that there are hundreds of lymph nodes throughout the human body? These lymph nodes are part of the lymphatic system, and this system plays a crucial part in your overall health. The average person over the age of 30 years old has only 50% of their lymphatic system functioning. Whether it be from dehydration, excess alcohol consumption, smoking, lack of exercise, and the list goes on. The lymphatic system holds onto toxins, impurities, and excess fluid. When the lymph system is unable to properly dispose of all of the contents that’s when you will notice bloating, illness, hormonal imbalances, etc. Kinetic dermabrasion aids in blood circulation, removing interstitial debris, pathogens, increasing and equalizing blood plasma, vitamin nutrients to both the dermis and epidermis, fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, and so much more.
Who is not a candidate for lymphatic drainage?
Individuals who are experiencing acute inflammation such as those who are actively sick, have a bug bite, infection, etc.
Women who are in their first trimester of pregnancy, if you are in your second or third trimester a doctor’s note is required.
Individuals with cancerous tumors, going through radiation, or chemotherapy.
Individuals with uncontrolled diabetes.
History of keloids or hypertrophic scar formations.
Recent chemical peel or burn on the skin.
You are currently using or have used any retinoids, for example, isotretinoin in the last 6 months.
